Government Clarifies "Parallel Imports" for Healthy Competition
Referring to various letters, representations & personal meetings of members of All Delhi Computer Traders Association (ADCTA), Nehru Place pertain to cancellation of UPRN A0474INDEL4TM which is registered with wrong and false information, Data/inputs, dishonestly concealment of facts supplied by Dell India Pvt. Ltd. and induced Custom officer to do wrongful act which otherwise he would not have done. Custom department could not decide the matter due to continuously insistence of Dell India Pvt. Ltd. About infringement because of import of Genuine Dell laptop without the necessary authorization from Dell India. This action of Custom Department confused to all Importers of IT Industry for importing Genuine commodity from overseas market & due to this they stopped importing the consignment. This caused to sharp decline in import and subsequently sale of IT Peripheral Industry & within 3 months country has suffered huge revenue loss (approx.. 500 crores)
In order to make it more clear members of ADCTA named Sh. Shyam Modi, Chairman, Sh. Mahinder Aggrawal, President, Sh. SWARN Singh, Jt. Secretary along with other members approached to concerned ministries and requested to issue clarification on the issue of parallel imports. All concerned officers were apprised about the importance of timely action as further delay in clarification could ruined to several rightful importers. Accordingly all officers act promptly and issued the clarification that import of genuine commodity does not infringe the right of right holder.
